Privacy policy
Last updated: 1 July 2026
This privacy policy explains how Acquisition Intelligence (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use https://acquisitionintelligence.co.uk (the “Platform”).
We are the data controller for personal data processed through the Platform. For privacy enquiries or to exercise your rights, email hello@acquisitionintelligence.co.uk.
What data we collect
- Account data — name, email address, password (stored hashed), subscription plan, and usage counters.
- Business search activity — searches, saved searches, favourites, alerts, and deal analysis you run on the Platform.
- Payment data — billing is handled by Stripe. We store Stripe customer/subscription identifiers, not full card numbers.
- Affiliate programme data — referral codes, clicks (hashed IP), commission records, and bank details provided for payouts.
- Technical data — session identifiers, cookie preferences, server logs, and browser type for security and operation.
- Seller/listing data — if you use marketplace or sell features, information you submit about businesses and verification documents.
How we use your data
- Provide and secure your account and subscription.
- Deliver company search, AI features, marketplace, and related tools.
- Process payments and affiliate commissions.
- Send service-related communications (e.g. account, billing, alerts you enable).
- Improve the Platform, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
Lawful bases (UK GDPR)
- Contract — to provide the Platform and features you sign up for.
- Legitimate interests — security, fraud prevention, product improvement, and B2B affiliate programme administration, balanced against your rights.
- Consent — optional cookies (see our Cookie policy) and any optional marketing where applicable.
- Legal obligation — tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements.
Sharing your data
We share data only where necessary with:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- OpenAI — AI search and analysis features you use (prompts and relevant company context).
- Companies House API — public company lookups.
- Hosting providers — to run the Platform (servers in the UK/EU where possible).
- Professional advisers — lawyers or accountants when required.
We do not sell your personal data.
International transfers
Some processors (e.g. Stripe, OpenAI) may process data outside the UK. Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations, Standard Contractual Clauses, or processor certification schemes.
Retention
We keep account data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for legal, tax, and dispute resolution purposes. Cookie preference records are kept for up to 12 months. Affiliate and payment records are retained as required for accounting and commission obligations.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase data in certain circumstances
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability where applicable
- Withdraw consent for consent-based processing
